Again we are playing with the notion of light and dark; of faith and hope shining amidst gloom and fear. The inspiration for a work like this is the little text in Luke's Gospel: "...if your whole body is full of light, and no part of it dark, it will be completely lighted, as when the light of a lamp shines on you." (chapter 11, verse 36).
