John's Gospel tells of Jesus, in the heat of the day, resting at a well outside a Samaritan village. A lone woman comes to draw water and he, to her amazement, asks her for a drink. Their conversation blossoms into revelations about God's love reaching out to transform her life and the lives of those she tells the story to (see chapter 4, verses 1-42).
