Jesus meets a Samaritan woman at a well and asks her for a drink. He overturns generations of separation and suspicion and dethrones ideas of holiness. In their conversation the woman discovers that, after she has given this stranger refreshing water to drink, he offers her a new life (John's Gospel, chapter 4, verses 1-42).
